National Cheng Kung University Museum

National Cheng Kung University Museum, the first in Taiwan, was established. Prof Yen Hung-Sen (顏鴻森) of Mechanical Engineering was appointed to be the first director. To celebrate the establishment of the museum, three special exhibitions were launched: Transition of Generations –Antique Machines in Miniature; Enter the Study of Professor Xue-Lin Su (蘇雪林); The Scale of Rationality – Some Things about NCKU Fellows. NCKU President Michael M.C. Lai was very pleased with the establishment of NCKU Museum. Lai thinks that a university should undertake the mission to pass down its cultural legacy. We should not forget to preserve and promote our history and culture despite the high-tech contest nowadays. NCKU is located in the cultural capital Tainan, which has many historical remains. The establishment of NCKU also symbolizes the development history of the industry, medical science and other sciences in Taiwan. The establishment and operation of NCKU Museum also demonstrate our commitment to Taiwanese history and culture.
