Want an unique new year’s eve memory and at the same time hit the highest note of excitement? Come check out Taipei’s New Year Eve’s Party “Countdown to 2008,” sponsored by Taipei City Government. Crowd yourself into Civic Plaza in front of City Hall and ring in the new year together with more than five hundred thousand people while Taipei 101 explodes with a fireworks display unrivaled by anywhere else!
The year-end series will kick off with an exciting parade around the Xinyi business district on December 30 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Balloons, bands, clowns, and many other entourages will start off at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, then progress along the business area while performing at intersections. Meanwhile, the Street Dance Competition will also take place at the same date and time at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Champs-Elysees, which will showcase the amazing acrobatic moves of local dancers and performers.
On December 31, the hottest stars of Taiwan’s music industry will perform their hearts out and give the audience an unforgettable show all night long. The performances on the moving stage in front of City Hall will start at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and last until1 a.m. of the new year. Make sure you have your camera ready during the last few seconds of 2007 and watch one of the tallest buildings in the world show off spectacular colors and light up the sky.
Note to party revelers. The entire Xinyi business district will be extremely busy and crowded on New Year’s Eve. Traffic and crowd management measures will be imposed. The best way to reach the area is to walk, bike, or take public transportation. The city government does not recommend driving or riding any vehicles to the venue as many streets will be blocked off. In addition, cell phone usage will be limited due to an overabundance of users attempting to get through that night. So, pre-determine a meeting place and time with your friends before heading to the party.
Taipei City Government asks everyone to please be patient and safe at all times. Come party and have a good time with Taipei and people from all over the world!
