Dear Students,

Due to delays in the allocation process of the TWN scholarship, students will receive their scholarships couple days later than the usual date of the 10th for the month of December. Please manage your budget accordingly.

In order to lessen any misunderstanding about the scholarship allocation process, we would like to briefly explain the entire procedure. When the university confirms the list of new recipients and collects all required documents after enrollment, an official document is drafted to the relevant bureau requesting scholarship funds for the semester. The scholarship allocation procedure goes through ISAD, Accounting Office, Cashier Office, and many more offices outside of the university. Therefore, the entire procedure takes a few days to complete, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact date of scholarship remittance. Rest assured we make every attempt to make the remittance date as close to the 10th of every month as we can.

We realize possible hardship for the foreign students living abroad, but school regulations must be followed. Due to recent incidents, we have established some new procedures, which will be strictly implemented in January 2009. If you do not comply yours, as well as other scholarship students from the same Bureau, will be delayed.

(1) “Sign-in” at the ISAD office between the 15th-30th of each month. You must bring your student ID & sign-in personally during the above time frame to ensure prompt receival of the following months’ scholarship. If you are unable to sign-in for any reason, an official written document must be submitted PRIOR to your absence. The measure will be implemented from January 2009. If you are not in Tainan over one month during the vacation, please show the proof to ISAD in advance.
(2) As a TWN Scholarship recipient, you are responsible for tuition payments. Not having money is an unacceptable excuse for not paying. Not paying on time affects both your student status as well as diploma issuance.
(3) At the start of each semester, remember to submit the necessary documents in order to continue receipt of your scholarship – copies of your renewed ARC, official transcripts, and most recent student status certificate.

We welcome all of you here at NCKU. If you have questions/problems, we make our best efforts to assist you. At the same time, please make sure you comply with university rules & regulations. When visiting our office, common courtesy and mutual respect should be extended at all times.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Sincerely yours,

Stacy Lin
